Mario Matteoli
was born and raised in Eureka, California. He started playing
guitar at age 14, listening to the likes of Hank Williams,
Bob Dylan, and Clarence White. After playing in various
bluegrass and rock and roll bands and a brief stint at the
local university, Matteoli packed his bags with buddies
Brian Salvi and Darren Hoff and moved to Austin to form
the premier touring act, The Weary Boys. For the last six
years his primary focus has been writing songs and playing
guitar with the band, occasionally playing the odd solo
performance. In November of 2005, Matteoli and friends
Cary Ozanian, Mark Ambrose, and Matt Hubbard began work
on his first self-released solo album, Hard Luck Hittin'.
Hard Luck was released in June 2006 and has already
received some great reviews from friends and critics alike.
